Way Too Cool 50K Run
Limit: 450 entries
This springtime event, touted as "the most popular 50K trail run in the U.S., was established in 1994 as the "Cool Canyon Crawl 50K" and kept this title until 1998 when race management changed at it was renamed "The Way Too Cool 50K." It features a modified loop course that begins and ends at the Cool Fire Station and is 97 percent on very scenic single track trails within the Auburn State Recreation Area. Wildflowers, waterfalls, views of the American River canyon, and firebellied newts are just some of the scenery a runner can expect. It's popularity is reflected in the fact that entry limit is attained completely on-line within 30 minutes.
